Today, on my walk/run (or jog/walk), I was walking through a cul-de-sac I hadn't walked in before and this kid came trudging down what I assume was his driveway, but the best part was he was wearing a red and blue "Cat-in-the-Hat" type hat (you know, the ridiculously tall ones) and what looked like his dad's (possibly 18 year-old brother's) shoes.

I couldn't stop staring and I might have freaked him out, but I wish that we could all do that - wear really big and ridiculous clothes.  Just because.  Lucky kid .

Now, see, this is why I miss my Ohio church:

Hello church family,

Currently the GRAPEVINE has been used just for church news and
announcements.  We feel like God is leading us to use the GRAPEVINE email
list more.

The GRAPEVINE was such a blessing last week!  It was exciting when John B
used the email to present his need for a cell phone and then so quickly
received what he needed.  It was also wonderful that our church family was
so generous in responding to GRAPEVINE requests to help a friend move and to
help another family clean their house due to a move.  Why not do this more?!
Let’s present our ‘needs’ and/or our ‘haves’ and see how God uses us to be
His love, generosity and provision to others.
Acts 2:44
And all the believers met together constantly and shared everything with
each other, selling their possessions and dividing with those in need. They
worshiped together regularly at the Temple each day, met in small groups in
homes for Communion, and shared their meals with great joy and thankfulness,
praising God.  The whole city was favorable to them, and each day God added
to them all who were being saved. (TLB)

So, lets do it!  We encourage you all to submit emails to the GRAPEVINE for
practical needs, extra things you have that could be a blessing to someone,
job needs, job opportunities, etc.  All requests will be noted in the
’subject line’ of each email so you will know right away if it is something
you choose to read or not.  We pray that this GRAPEVINE can become even more
of a blessing within our church body and community like in Acts 2!

All GRAPEVINE emails are prayerfully reviewed and then sent out when
approved by the moderators.  So, please be patient if it takes a day or so.

We are excited about this and hope you are too!  May God be pleased and
glorified as we minister to one another in this way.

for His Name's Sake,

Sharon

"One of my friends has a shirt marked with the words of late Catholic bishop Dom Helder Camara: 'When I fed the hungry, they called me a saint.  When I asked why people are hungry, they called me a communist.'  Charity wins awards and applause, but joining the poor gets you killed.  People do not get crucified for chartiy.  People are crucified for living out a love that disrupts the social order, that calls forth a new world.  People are not crucified for helping poor people.  People are crucified for joining them." (129)

Books making me uncomfortable, even on the second read.  I guess that's probably good.

I worked at Hardee's til 10.  From 4 til 10.  'Cause some girl cancelled.  Around 7 PM, I realized that I had forgotten to clock in.  However, thanks to the brilliance of Sarah, my hours got recorded (whew!).

On the way home, I was singing with the radio, and all of the sudden, I started sniffing.  "What is that smell?" I thought - the smell of stale syrup and greasy meat and...oh my gosh.  That smell was me.

Ew.
